If you notice the Linux hardware error log, the following user guide may help you.

I’m using Debian Wheezy on an HP Pavilion dv7 laptop and it crashes almost every now and then, causing my PC to boot up. In one case, it wasn’t even my body weight that controlled the system, but I didn’t use it, so I can’t tell what the error was. On a previous install of Windows 5, the Windows installation always failed, returning the user to some sort of “Attempting to Repair” screen that would write something for a few minutes and then report that Windows definitely couldn’t fix the problem.

This makes me wonder if there are hardware flaws and I was wondering if there might be something in /var/log or somewhere near you who has information about it, might let you know what’s going on or if you find there’s a test I could do and why I should be there.

    grep "error" -i /var/log

The full output is usually found here. The only line I was sure I could figure out, which I think might have something to do with the problem, was

Log folders are a collection of records that experts believe are stored in Linux so that administrators can keep track of important events. They contain messages about the server, including the core of the service and applications running on it.

Linux provides a central archive of log files, which can simply reside in the /var/log directory.

Report files generated in a native Linux environment can usually be divided into 5 different logs.
