Best Way To Fix Cacti Solaris CPU Usage

Over the past few days, some readers have reported that they are experiencing Cacti Solaris CPU usage.
Hi everyone, this will be my first post about the area. Sorry if this is mentioned elsewhere.
I configured Cacti on both Solaris and Linux 2.6 kernel.
The attached CPU usage charts tend not to properly break down the CPU for either, though that’s mostly because the bad things are no doubt counted together. This will work on Linux 2.4 kernel.

I made copies of the included index chart template, added the new data options, then modified one template to work with Linux 2.6 and another for Solaris (and a new additional host template). I also use idle time to plot to see which type is most useful, although there are CPU data collection issues here, and/or to see if your personal values are wrong. Yes, you will need net-snmp. On Solaris, you can replace an existing Solaris agent, or simply run it on an exclusive port.

DO NOT draw the computer’s core and processor at the same time. On Solaris, the “system” CPU is only considered “now” as the “core” and is added at the same time. In Linux 2.6 “kernel” is just… “system” and “wait”, I guess? Therefore, if you enable both options, the downtime will be inaccurate.
ALSO note that the numbers are NOT percentages, although they may appear on the chart. They are checked every second as specified by their kernel. This is more obvious on a Linux 2.6 multiprocessor machine, the kernel, as the total number of ticks will increase to 100x CPU. If you have a uniprocessor Linux machine or a Solaris machine, they are simply converted to percentages, since our kernel counts ticks up to 100 seconds.
